What is the easiest way to create a website (preferably free)?

I’m having trouble figuring out the easiest way possible to create my own website. I’m trying to create a website in order to start a personal small business. If you can recommend a good website or forum that gives very detailed instructions that would be best as I have never attempted to even learn how this process goes. The closest I’ve come to making my own site is putting in personal info on the nest.com or the knot.com. Due to the fact that this would be a business website, I am looking for a way to have this have a short small web address name for clients to easily remember. I would really appreciate this information for future use as I’m still not quite ready to start my business yet. I just want to start creating the site until I’m ready to launch it and my business. I really appreciate all the help anyone can give me. Thank you so much, Tess
I should have asked as well, what are good sites to go to to register for a domain name? Where would you recommend?

    I would head over to w3schools.com and do some of there tuts.

    Pretty easy templates. If you want your own domain name or extra features you will have to pay a little bit but for the most part it’s free.
